The Bottom Line

Hospitals have often been portrayed in the media to be the “bad guys” when it comes to the cost of their service and going “too far” when collecting patient accounts.  Headlines are now designed to grab people’s attention. How do they do that?  Focus on something negative. I ran across an article recently that was entitled “5 Tricks Hospitals Use to Overcharge You”.  I thought, “Are you kidding me? If there were any “tricks” at all being “used” by hospitals, those tricks would surely be how to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat financially with governmental overreach or how to wave the magic wand to keep the doors open when insurance companies refuse to pay while continuing to collect patient insurance  premiums.”

Here’s the bottom line. Our patients are our neighbors and friends. Your care providers people at SRMC sincerely care about you. We’re not here to conjure up tricks meant to overcharge you. In today’s healthcare world, providing quality care for our community is expensive.Sidney Regional Medical Center is a not-for-profit charitable organization focused on your needs. We care if we have made a mistake on your bill. We care to provide financial counseling. We care and provide payment options when you have a bill that you didn’t expect. We care … and provide that care at no cost to our patients who cannot afford it. 

The only tricks you will find at our hospital are those aimed at treating you right.
