Lighthouse Leadership

The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians launched the Emergency Medical Services Lighthouse Leadership mentor program in 2022, to pair up-and-coming EMS professionals with mentors who are experienced EMS leaders. Each Lighthouse Leadership participant is matched with an EMS leader who possesses the specific knowledge and experience to help the mentee map out a personal career plan, develop a strategy to achieve career goals, and provide support throughout an 18-month mentorship. The program provides mentees with an expanded professional network, valuable insight into all aspects of the EMS industry, and a reservoir of leadership expertise to tap into. In addition to advice on education and professional development, mentors will help their mentees develop the principle-centered leadership qualities that can inspire and motivate others to follow their example and do their best for them. It is a huge honor to be accepted into this program as less than 20 individuals were selected out of hundreds of applications received across the country. In fact, only 12 people graduated from the 18-month program, and one of them was our very own, Amanda Stricker.

In May of 2023, Amanda was accepted into the 2024 Lighthouse Leadership Cohort. Amanda is a paramedic with over 15 years of experience in EMS, as well as an EMS instructor. During the past 18 months, she has focused her attentions on increasing the availability of EMS-specific classes offered in the area. Currently, she is an instructor for a variety of trainings: Basic Life Support, Advance Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advance Life Support, Prehospital Trauma Life Support, Advance Medical Life Support, Geriatric Education for EMS, Emergency Pediatric Care, EMS Safety, First on the Scene, and Stop the Bleed.

On September 11, 2024, the EMS Lighthouse Leadership culminated with a graduation ceremony held at the World EMS Expo in Las Vegas. At this ceremony, Amanda received her certificate of completion from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians. SRMC is beyond proud to have someone with this accomplishment on our team and the dedication to train others. Congratulations, Amanda Stricker!
